AMRC in collaboration with other 13 organisations and networks conducted a series of 4 workshops in the platform of World Social Forum 2024 on the 17th February in Kathmandu, Nepal. There were more than 200 participants from over 14 countries of Asia and Europe. The workshops include:
1) Assembly on Universal Social Protection, a thematic panel on impacts of exclusion of social protection in the lives of vulnerable people and gaps in policy and implementation related to social protection with a diversity of speakers, including representatives from International organizations, workers, trade unions, NGOs and activists from Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Thailand, Palestines and other countries.
2) Maternity protection for workers in the informal economy. This workshop provided the most updated information on social protection-related vulnerabilities of women in the informal economy, especially as regards maternity protection of women in the agrifood sector. Participants also shared good practices regarding maternity protection for workers in the informal economy from the countries.
3) Gender equality. In this workshop, participants exchanged their experiences of the effect of the inequalities in their social, political, economic and cultural life and discussed the possible measures to promote gender equalities in the Asia region and in the world.
4) Impact of Privatization on Public Services. The workshop provided the participants with a better understanding of the recent developments in the world of work and its implications to workers and unions and people relied on public services; as well as build advocacy and campaigns for public sector workers.

On the 19th February, we shared our Joint Statement - WSF2024 Workshop Series on Towards Universal Social Protection and called for joining us. By 15 March 2024, we got 93 signatures from the organisations and networks and 43 individual signatures to endorse our Joint Statement.
