Asia Monitor Resource Centre, through its Occupational Safety and Health Program, conducted an occupational safety and health (OSH) training with electronics workers from the Buc Ning Province in Vietnam last June 26-27, 2015. The 2-day Training of Trainors (ToT) took place in the export processing zone (EPZs) located inside of Buc Ning Province.
According to Omana George, Program Officer of AMRC, the crux of the ToT was on chemicals used in the production processes and how they can be mapped, identified and dealt with to ensure workplaces are safer for workers to work in.
AMRC worked with Center for Development and Integration (CDI), a local NGO who has been active in the EPZ’s around Hanoi and engaging with the trade union at the local level and building strong working relations with them on OSH issues.
“We wanted to connect trainers from the past training in Hai Phong to the new set of trainees in Buc Ning,” explained Omana. “This is one of our objective in the TOT and will help in developing capacity for workers on matters of OSH.”
