OFFICIAL RULES
Working Women of Asia Photo Contest 2015
ORGANISER:
The organiser of the Working Women of Asia Photo Contest 2015 is Asia Monitor Resource Centre (AMRC) and it aims to mainstream women at work.
This photo contest aims to raise awareness about the invaluable contributions that women workers make to our societies. Across Asia, women workers are engaged in diverse kinds of work throughout their lives.
In this photo contest we invite photographs that feature marginalised women workers in their work environment, their community, or their own homes.
TERM:
The 2015 Asia Monitor Resource Centre “Working Women of Asia Photo Contest 2015” (“Contest”) begins March 8, 2015 at 12:01am Hong Kong time UTC +8H (HKT) and ends April 28, 2015 at 11:59pm (HKT). All entries must be received on or before April 28, 2015 at 11:59pm (HKT). Information on how to enter and prizes form part of these official rules (“Official Rules”). By submitting an entry, each contestant agrees to the Official Rules and warrants that his or her entry complies with all requirements set out in the Official Rules.
WHO MAY ENTER:
Eligibility: The Contest is open to ALL persons above 13 years of age except for individuals affiliated with the Asia Monitor Resource Centre, including current and former staff, Board members, the Contest judges, consultants, interns, volunteers and their immediate families (children, siblings and spouses) and others living in their households. The AMRC will determine winners’ eligibility in its sole discretion.
In entering the contest you subject yourself to both the Contest Rules and Legal Terms and Conditions. By submitting an image to the Contest, you are deemed to have reviewed, read and accepted both. By entering this contest, you agree to receive communications and updates from AMRC.
HOW TO ENTER:
There will be two categories:
1) Best Photo
2) Peoples Choice Award
All entries must be submitted in digital format via email. Send entry to
womenatwork@amrc.org.hk. Submit an original photograph, taken by you that captures the diverse kinds of work of women in Asia. Include a title for the Photograph, a written description (100 words or less) of the Photograph (“Caption”), the location where the Photograph was taken, and the names of any persons in the Photograph (if known). Your entry must comply with the following requirements (the “Entry Requirements”):
All photograph submissions must be 5 megabytes or smaller, must be in JPEG or JPG format, and must be at least 1,600 pixels wide (if a horizontal image) or 1,600 pixels tall (if a vertical image).
Cropped photos are eligible. We do not accept digitally or otherwise enhanced or altered photos, except those with minor adjustments. Minor adjustments, including spotting, dodging and burning, sharpening, contrast and slight color adjustment or the digital equivalents, are acceptable. If the judges determine that a photographer has altered his or her photo, they reserve the right to disqualify it.
Obscene, provocative, or otherwise objectionable content will not be considered, and such determination is solely at the discretion of Sponsor. Examples of the following types of photos we will reject include the following:
• Pornographic or nude images
• Images promoting illegal drug use
• Images depicting crimes of any nature
• AMRC is not required to provide any explanation for the rejection.
Once a photograph is submitted, it is considered a final submission and may not be modified, edited, or replaced. Individual contestants may submit only one photo.
The Photograph and the Caption, each in its entirety, must be a single work of original material taken by the contest contestant. By entering the Contest, contestant represents, acknowledges and warrants that the submitted Photograph and Caption are original works created solely by the contestant and that no other party has any right, title, claim or interest in the Photograph or the Caption. Furthermore, contestants agree to indemnify and hold harmless AMRC, its affiliates, offices, and employees, against any and all claims, judgments, damages, liabilities, penalties and fines of any kind, stemming from any discovery that the submitted Photograph and Caption violates any and all applicable laws.
All eligible entries will automatically be part of the Peoples’ Choice Award.
All entries must be submitted and received by April 28, 2015 at 11:59 pm KST. Proof of submission is not proof of receipt.
Please do not contact us about the status of entries or judging. This can be construed as interference to the Contest and may result in disqualification.
RELEASE:
For a photo in which a person is recognizable, you must secure a model release from the subject or, in the case of a minor, the subject’s parent or guardian and provide it to AMRC upon request.
LICENSE:
You retain your rights to your Photograph and Caption; however, by entering the contest, you place your Photograph and Caption under the Creative Commons Attribution License and grant AMRC (and those authorized by AMRC) a royalty-free, world-wide, perpetual, non-exclusive license to publicly display, distribute, reproduce, and create derivative works of the entries, in whole or in part, in any media now existing or later developed, for any AMRC purpose, including, but not limited to, advertising and promotion of its books and its website, and exhibition, including but not limited to AMRC publications. Any photograph and caption reproduced will include attribution.
DETERMINATION OF WINNERS:
A pool of judges will decide the winner of the contest based on their judging criteria. The AMRC solely reserves the right to select the judges. The decisions of the judges is final.
The winners of the Best Photo will be announced on May 1, 2015 1200nn (KST).
All the entries will be selected to join the Peoples’ Choice Award (PCA). The PCA voting will be on Facebook and the entry with the most number of votes will receive the PCA. The voting for the PCA will begin May 2, 2015 12:01 am (KST) until May 8 11:59 pm (KST). The winner of the PCA will be announced on May 9, 2015 1200 nn (KST).
The winners will be contacted via email and have 5 days to confirm. Failure to confirm could result to forfeiture of the prize.

AMRC will award 4 prizes:
Best Photo: USD 500
Second Prize: USD 200
Third Prize: USD 100
People Choice Award: 1pc Action Sports Camera
LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY:
Contest Sponsors assume no liability or responsibility for any loss or harm resulting from any user’s participation in or attempt to participate in the Contest or ability or inability to upload, download, or otherwise access any information in connection with participating in the Contest. Contest Sponsors assume no responsibility or liability for technical problems, or technical malfunction arising in connection with any of the following occurrences which may affect the operation of the Contest: hardware or software errors; faulty computer, telephone, cable, satellite, network, electronic, wireless or Internet connectivity, or other online communication problems; errors or limitations of any Internet service providers, servers, hosts or providers; garbled, jumbled or faulty data transmissions; failure of any email transmissions to be sent or received; lost, late, delayed or intercepted email transmissions; inaccessibility of the Contest site in whole or in part for any reason; traffic congestion on the Internet or the Contest site; unauthorized human or non-human intervention of the operation of the Contest, including without limitation, unauthorized tampering, hacking, theft, virus, bugs, worms; or destruction of any aspect of the Contest, or loss, miscount, misdirection, inaccessibility or unavailability of an email account used in connection with the Contest.
Contest Sponsors are not responsible for any typographical errors in the announcement of prizes or these Official Contest Rules, or any inaccurate or incorrect data contained on the contest site. Use of Contest site is at user’s own risk. Contest Sponsors are not responsible for any personal injury, property damage, or losses of any kind which may be sustained to user’s or another person’s computer equipment resulting from participation in the Contest, use of the Contest site or the downloading of information from the Contest site. By participating in the Contest, the Contestant releases Contest Sponsors from any and all claims, damages or liabilities arising from or relating to such Contestant’s participation in the Contest.
Contest Sponsors are not liable in the event that any portion of the Contest is cancelled due to weather, fire, strike, or any other reason.
