Dangerous working conditions are common in Asia, and they kill, maim, and sicken thousands of workers every day, but the true extent of this problem is grossly underestimated. These workers have no access to treatment and just compensation. In this programme, AMRC strives to ensure that workers in Asia are able to work in safety and in dignity, through the following strategies:
-
Organising occupational victims, ensuring that they are able to represent themselves in decision-making processes that involve their rights and wellbeing.
-
Building the capacity and empowering workers and activists to fight for safe and decent working conditions, and address occupational diseases.
-
Linking OSH movements nationally and regionally through platforms such as ANROEV, to increase grassroots’ organisations bargaining power.
